We have several illustrated books in the Chiltern Classics collection. A Christmas Carol features illustrations by the celebrated Victorian artist Arthur Rackham. Alice in Wonderland is illustrated with many of the John Tenniel pictures which appeared in the first edition of the book. The Little Prince contains the author’s own drawings, which are an integral part of the book. The Art of War is richly illustrated throughout.
No, in the United States Little Women was first published in1868. Louisa May Alcott soon completed a second volume, which continues the story of the March family. In the US, the two parts were soon combined and published under the title Little Women. However, in the UK, the second part of the story was published separately and called Good Wives. The Chiltern edition of Little Women contains the original first part story. A beautiful edition of Good Wives will be issued in autumn 2021.
